City of Steamboat Springs Honors Staff

The City of Steamboat Springs held its annual Service Awards Program on Friday, November 14th. Awards were presented to City staff for Outstanding Customer Service, Community Involvement, and for being a “Good Guy” These awards acknowledge City staff for going above and beyond the expectations or requirements of their jobs.

Service Awards were presented to those employees who have been with the City for 5, 10, 25, and 30 years. We all would like to congratulate and thank these employees for their outstanding leadership and service.

Spring Creek Trail Seasonal Wildlife Closure

A seasonal wildlife closure will take effect on Saturday, November, 15, 2008, for a majority of the Spring Creek Trail. The trail will remain closed until April 15, 2009. The
closure begins approximately 1.5 miles up the trail from Amethyst Drive, where the two
track road changes to single track trail, and extends to the top of the trail at the Dry
Lake Parking Lot. Access to the closed section of trail is blocked with a gate and a sign
is posted with the dates and information about this closure.

Steamboat Springs Alcohol Responsibility Training - SSART

November 18 * 1:00 – 3:00pm

This training satisfies the City’s alcohol server training requirement.

Construction Detours on Lincoln Avenue

Construction work at Lincoln Avenue and 3rd Street is nearly complete for the season! This week
there will be varying detours as they try to accomplish the work safely, quickly, and with the least amount of disruption feasible. Periodic updates will be provided on the City Page as work comes to a close.

Noon Whistle

Did you know that our noon whistle was first located at the Steamboat Laundry – now Creekside
Café – in the 1930’s and the whistle actually ran off the laundry’s steam vent?

The noon whistle we had until a couple of weeks ago was mounted in the ‘50s. We can resurrect
our whistle with your contributions. No contribution is too small. If we raise the $4000 necessary to resurrect the whistle, the City will continue to pay the operations and maintenance costs.

A reminder that all campaign signs must be removed no later than Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Thanks for your help.

Tis the Season…For Political Signs

The information below (from the City's Municipal Code) will guide you to sign compliance:

Section 26-222. Prohibited Signs. Any sign placed in a corner sight triangle, on any curb, sidewalk, post, pole, hydrant, bridge, tree, or other surface located on, over, or across any public street, right of way, property or thoroughfare.

Section 26-221. Political campaign signs must be located on private property with the property owners consent, shall not be located within the city right of way and must be removed no later than seven (7) calendar days from the date of the election.
